The New Apartment (dunta dunn!)

Here are the long awaited and much anticipated pics of my new much smaller one room apartment.  It took me forever to clean the grime out of this place.  The previous tenant had two small dogs in this apartment!!!!  There’s barely enough room for one person in here let alone two little pooches rolling around.  There was hair and lots of mildew everywhere.  Uhg!  I used lots of bleach on everything.  The sink was just horrible.  The bathroom surprisingly wasn’t so bad.  I’ll have to get some picks of that.  I didn’t do any before and after shots of it.  I was too focused on the task at hand.

The bed that I have is queen sized and takes up a big part of the apartment.  The way that the bed is designed doesn’t even allow me to have storage space under it.  Thus, I have my suitcases on the side of it at the foot of the bed.  (The other two fit inside the biggest one which was so thoughtfully and kindly provided to me by my loving friends in Sarnia.  You know, as I think about it now, it’s almost like they couldn’t wait to get rid of me.  Goodbye Ken, here’s a suitcase, adios, get moving, head on out now.  :-P  Ok, so it wasn’t quite like that :-).  Having the suitcase at the foot of my bed is no big deal really, I’ve slept in a single bed all my life and this queen seems like I’m swimming in mattress.  Actually it’s kinda nice.

The apartment isn’t to bad overall.  I am in a constant state of laundry though so I am always dancing around my drying clothes.  I have to air dry everything and that usually takes about 2 days on the rack.  Thus, I am doing a load of laundry every few days.  The rack moves from in front of the sink and (coleman :-P ) stove to in front of the bathroom door.  I’m used to the whole thing now so I really don’t think about it much.  I have it set up in such a way that I can just open up the fridge for stuff as I’m cooking.

I also have a small fold up table in-between the sink and the fridge that I use for cooking prep and also as a dinner table at times.  We do what we have to to get by.  :-)  My college dorm room was bigger than this apartment.  At least I don’t have to walk down the hallway to go to the bathroom.  :-P  Ah the memories. lol

Is it all one room?

Um... I think that's the meaning of a one room apartment. :-P

The bathroom is a seperate room but that never counts anyway.

As to the cost, I'm not sure. Housing is part of my contract.

Thanks. :-) Can you believe I've actually entertained in this apartment! There isn't much more room than for just two people though. I invited my good friend Paul over and cooked for him and we watched a movie. He was impressed with the meal, as if there was any doubt. :-P

ahahahaha, ... oh now angela don't be bitter. :-P

as to the bars on the window, the first thing i said when i moved in was that i was moving into a prison cell.

i've been working out a plan as to what I would do incase of fire. i'm only about 12 feet above the ground so exiting a window is a definite possibility if the hallway is blocked.

That isn't an apartment! That is a dressing room!

I don't think dropping 12 feet to the ground is a great idea, but compared to running through the fire I guess it is the better end of the deal. Just take your sheets and shimmy down. haha

Hopefully it isn't your Coleman that causes the fire.

Well sis, let’s just say there won't be any fires thank you very much. :-P Better to have a plan though eh.

In answer to your question there Dar, I thought about a loft but since it' just for the rest of the year I won't bother. At university and after, I used a loft (that's what we call it anyway) and it makes a big difference. Ah well, I'll make do. And no, I'm not really that much closer to work. I didn't move far from where I was.

You liked my coleman stove though eh. :-) It does ok for cooking. What I wouldn't give for an oven at times though. Ever try making nochoes and chese in a frying pan? :-P Let me tell ya, you have to be a little bit crazy and a whole lot creative. :-)
